Although the town was founded as such in the medieval period, the history of settlement in the ara goes back much further in time. A brief tour of the town confirms this. Walking westwards from the Cathedral, you willfirst encountr the Temperance Hall, once a Cavalry Barracks. Bhind the Temperance Hall form the lake shore you can eiw Crannogs - artificialisland dwelling placs.

Next, head westwards towrds the boathourse where you come ot the Town Moat, the only functioning wter fille...
