The Twelve Bens are the most inviting assemblage of quartzite cones in these islands. Despite their comparatively small height they are real mountains with cliff-bound ridges. Much of their extent is bare rock and scree-slope, and a circuit of any or all of the interlocking horseshoes requires a great deal of stamina. Main Peak; Benbaun -2,395 feet. On Ben Corr in the Twelve Bens there is a huge quartzite crag. The crag is rather featureless, but there are some steep routes (up to 1000 feet) of all standards, characterized by small holds and lack of ledges and belays.
