The Lodges at the Shannon Oaks Hotel offers 4 star self catering accommodation. With a stunning location close to the shores of Lough Derg right next to 1,500 acres of wooded park. Situated on the grounds of The Shannon Oaks Hotel in Portumna, County Galway, these holiday homes are perfect for a family holiday.
Each holiday rental has five bedrooms, two of which are en suite, two family bathrooms, a spacious open plan living / dining area which opens out onto a private decking area and a fully equipped kitchen.

Directions

The Lodges are located on the grounds of the Shannon Oaks Hotel and Country Club.  Drive straight through Portumna town and the hotel is located on your left opposite the Church.  For registration and collection of your keys please check in at the reception desk in the hotel.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS FROM DUBLIN
Take the N7/M7 Naas, Limerick road from Dublin. Proceed on N7 bypassing Naas
and join M7 bypassing Newbridge, Portlaoise, rejoining N7 at Mountrath. Proceed
on N7 through Borris-in-Ossory entering Roscrea. Take N62 from Roscrea towards
Birr. From Birr, follow R489 signposted Portumna.  Approximately 2 hours 15
minutes.

FROM LIMERICK
Take the N7 Dublin Road from Limerick. At Nenagh follow the signs for Birr and
then Portumna N52 through to Borrisokane. Take the N65 signposted Portumna.
Approximately 1.5 hours.

FROM BELFAST
Take the M1 in the direction of Dublin onto the A1 to Newry. Then take the N1
signposted Castleblaney, Dundalk and the N52 towards Mullingar. Follow the
signs for Tullamore and on to Birr. From here take the N62 in the direction of
Roscrea. Turn right onto the N52 again in the direction of Nenagh through to
Riverstown where you branch right onto the R489 (signposted Portumna). Take
the N65 to Portumna. Approximately 4 hours.

Description

Bed linen & towels are supplied free of charge while guests can avail of the leisure facilities at the adjacent hotel which include a swimming pool, a Jacuzzi, a steam room and a gym.
On the banks of the River Shannon, the thriving town of Portumna is located to the north of Lough Derg. The area is an angling hot spot with excellent fishing waters while Portumna Golf Club, a fantastic parkland course, is perfect for a round of golf. The town also boasts a number of attractions including Portumna Castle while the nearby Portumna Forrest Park provides a number of scenic walking trails.

Each lodge consists of 5 bedrooms. Downstairs there is 1 double and 1 twin bedroom, each sharing a bathroom with shower. Upstairs the master bedroom is ensuite, there is a further twin bedroom and double room with a small 4ft double bed and the main bathroom.
Bed linen and towels are provide free of charge. Hairdryers are available in each lodge.

we stayed in a lodge and it was ideal for us .we had 5 adults and 3 children.the space inside was great and the green areas outside was fantastic for children to play safely.the woods being so close were great for long walks.the only criticism we had were electrical machines needed updating and some furnishings were shabby.all in all we would highly recommend SHANNON LODGES for family holidays.

All lodges are beautifully furnished to the highest standard. The large open plan living/dining area is flooded with natural light with doors opening onto a private wood deck outside. The living room is furnished with a gas fire for those chilly evening and cable TV.
Each kitchen is fully furnished with oven, hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine. Cutlery/utensils and machine/dryer also provided.
