This self-catering home was absolutely beautiful. We felt very at home while staying there. The surrounding area was agricultural as well as historical. It was very peaceful and quiet, yet close enough to areas that we wanted to visit. Athenry village has a huge amount of potential for attracting future visitors, if done properly. I would suggest having the large amount of traffic in the town center diverted away and create a parking area near the Joyce's shopping center vicinity. It would be good to have shuttle buses transport people into and out of the center. Athenry center is small enough to allow pedestrians to walk around and explore the various shops, restaurants and historical sights without the interferance of traffic and parking issues. I hope that they preserve the historical and architectural features of their town. The original character of their village is still quite evident and reflects the Irish culture.
