For the active a wide variety of outdoor activities are available around Connemara including fresh water and deep sea angling, hill walking, cycling, surfing, sailing, scuba diving, golfing and pony trekking. You can also step back in time with a visit to the Aran Islands, these beautiful rugged Islands are one of the few places where Gaelic (Irelands native tongue) is still spoken.
Kylemore Abbey is definitely worth a visit, this Abbey dates back to 1868 and is steeped in history. The Abbey is located in the heart of the Twelve Bens in Connemara and is home to the Irish Benedictine nuns. Today you can visit the Abbey, it’s Gothic Church and recently restored Victorian walled garden.
