oughterard summer events

Events take place throughout the summer in Oughterard, Co. Galway. The miraculous rise of the Mayfly from the lake bed attracts Anglers from all over the world. Many come to participate in the International Golfing and Angling Competition held in May.

The Curragh Racing Championships take place in June and attract competitiors from all over Ireland. June is also the date for Open Week at the Oughterard Golf Club. Nationally renowned is the Oughterard Agricultural Show, one of the largest in the country, it is held on the last Sunday in August.

Oughterard is twinned with the French town of Plougat, in Brittany. Several cultural exchanges have been made and enjoyed to date.
