Accommodation moylough

Welcome to Moylough
What has been described as "an interesting example of an early masonry castle well worthy of preservation" guards the western entrance to the village of Moylough on the Galway road (N63) to Roscommon. This 13th centuyr norman keep, and later castles of the local O'Kelly chieftains, suggest a rather troubled past, which contrasts greatly with the peaceful setting of Moylough today. However, the village is the centre of a parish filled with interesting antiquities, ranging from a c.4,000 year old wedge tomb in the townland of Kilbeg to a probable penal chapel hidden behind the esker ridge at nearby Laught.
