Maamturk Mountains
Connemara, Galway
The Maamturks are an attractive range lying north-south overlooking Lough Inagh. Like the Bens they are quartzite peaks, and the traverse of the whole range makes a fine day's climb/walk.

One of the most beautiful and scenic mountain walks in Benlevy (Mount Gable) (1370 feet). Joyces Country
Joyces Country
Maam, Connemara, Galway
To the north-east of Maam Valley, which extends from Maam Bridge northwards to Leenane are a group of hills known collectively as Joyce's Country. Although they are steep in places they are not too high (Bunnacunneen, 1,902 feet is the highest summit) and the main ridge can be reached within the hour.
From the hill tops are breathtaking views of Lough Corrib to the South-east, Lough Mask to the north-east and Maam Turks to the north-west....
Twelve Pins Mountain
Twelve Pins Mountain
Connemara, Galway
The Twelve Bens are the most inviting assemblage of quartzite cones in these islands. Despite their comparatively small height they are real mountains with cliff-bound ridges. Much of their extent is bare rock and scree-slope, and a circuit of any or all of the interlocking horseshoes requires a great deal of stamina. Main Peak; Benbaun -2,395 feet. On Ben Corr in the Twelve Bens there is a huge quartzite crag. The crag is rather featureless, but there are some steep routes (up to 1000 feet) of...
