Since 1941 Kennys Bookshop has been to the forefront in providing books of Irish interest to both the general & the discerning reader. We are now the largest exporter of Irish books. We provide over 100 American Universities with books of Irish interest and we are advisors to such institutions as the Library of Congress on how to best develop their Irish library holdings.

We specialise in new, secondhand and antiquarian Irish interest books and pride ourselves on having the most comprehensive holdings in this area of interest anywhere in the world.

Our second-hand stock of Irish interest material is the largest, most extensive and most varied anywhere in the world.

We have a very interesting collection of old maps and prints. We also have rare and antiquarian books such as old almanacs, books on British topography, nineteenth-century American poetry, and, of course, numerous first and early editions of all of Ireland's major authors, both past and present, including Joyce, Yeats, Heaney, and Beckett.

There are also thousands of books on history, all geographically categorised; the categories range from Australia to Vietnam and take in British and European history, the Philippines, Korea, the Middle East, and many others along the way.

At Kennys we also carry on the tradition of finebinding, catering to collectors, libraries, private collections and people who appreciate the finest workmanship.

Description

Each book is individually hand crafted from its hand-sewn spine, laced cords and raised bands to its headband, handmade with brightly coloured silks, toning with leather and marbled paper.

We use the finest quality leathers (calf and goatskin for the most part), handmade marbled papers and acid free end papers. The spine of each book is finished with 22 carat gold leaf lettering and decoration.
