Traditional afternoon tea is served in the hotel lobby with a pianist playing the grand piano in the background, a great option to relax and soak up the ambience of the hotel. Parking Hotel Meyrick has a small private car park for guests with limited availability. If a space is available, concierge will valet park your car for you. There is a €5 charge for valet parking. Alternatively we offer discounted car parking at the nearby multi-story Forster Street car park.
Aran Islands – These three Islands are situated at the mouth of Galway Bay. Because of their relative isolation, the islands are steeped in Irish culture and heritage which has been sadly lost in todays modern Ireland. The islands are have some of the strongest Irish speakers in the country and the majority of people here still speak Irish as their first language. The stunning beautiful islands are an extension of the Burren in Co. Clare. High cliffs, incredible rugged landscapes, ancient forts and other relics of pre-history are of plenty here. Connemara – only 1 hours drive from Galway, the Connemara is renowned for it's rugged and remote beauty, with beautiful spots like Clifden, Connemara National Park, Kylemore Abbey.
The Burren – The Burren is a unique 160 square kilometres of limestone with rare flora and fauna growing among the rocks. Sightseeing tours depart from Galway on a daily basis, or it is just over an hour from the hotel by car. The Ailwee Caves and Cliffs of Moher are also close by and worth a visit.
Golfing – The West of Ireland is renowned as a golfing haven and Galway is not short of quality courses. From the famous links at Connemara Golf Club to the long established parkland courses of Athenry, Oughterard and Tuam. The popularity of the game of golf in County Galway has in recent times coincided with the development of new courses like The Galway Bay Golf and Country Club designed by Christy O’Connor junior. The captivating scenery around Bearna Golf and Country Club has to be seen to be believed.
