This building was built in the 1840's as a residence for the Pearse Family. The most famous member of the family was Lady Augusta Gregory, of Coole Park, playwright and patrons of the Irish Literary revival. On her frequent visits to Galway she used to stay in his building with her sister. The building came in to the possession of Galway Corporation in the 1940's and housed civic offices and the Council Chamber until 1988. Since 1988 the building has operated as an Arts Centre. The Kenny Gallery is located in Middle Street, Galway. We have been selling Irish art for nearly half a century. We promote mostly Irish artists, by selling and exhibiting their work for Ireland and abroad. We host fifteen major exhibits and a number of smaller exhibitions each year. We represent over 200 Irish artists and at any one time has over 1,000 art works on display. Also accesible through their bookshop on High Street....
