culchie of the year 2007

A Culchie is a country person and are someone who is proud of it. This festival is seen as the male equivalent of the Rose of Tralee and the crowning of the Culchie of the Year is the highlight of the event. No-one from inside the Pale is allowed enter but you must be up for anything. For everyone else there is the traditional wellie-throwing contest, sheaf-tossing, low-loader driving and many other things that perhaps a city dweller wouldn’t understand.
