Enter Portumna town from the Galway side and take a right hand turn from Main Street onto Dominick Street.
From the East take left of Main Street onto Donminick Street. Follow to end of street and Clos an Iarla is on the right.

The double room is nicely decorated and en-suite, while the second bedroom has two single beds.

Portumna

Portumna is a very popular destination as it is situated both on the River Shannon and Logh Derg. A big tourist attraction in the town is Portumna Castle, this Castle dates back to the 17th Century. The Castle was destroyed by fire 1826 but was partially restored in more recent years. The ground floor of the Castle is now open to the pubic, with exhibitions being held in here and in the Gate house. To the north of the Castle are beautiful gardens, definitely worth a visit.
Portumna Forest Park
The park cover over 600 acres and adjacent is access to the Shannon Water system. In the park is a stunning forest and unspoilt lakeside walks and nature trail. On the nature train is a viewing tower giving beautiful views of the forest and lake.

Lough Derg

Lough Derg is the second largest lake in the Republic of Ireland and the larges of Shannon’s Lake. It is know as the pleasure lake due to all the activities carried out on the lake and it’s surrounding. Very popular for game and coarse angling, sailing, day cruises, windsurfing and water skiing, everyone will find something for them here.
One can visit many of the islands on the lake, the most popular being Inis Cealtra – Holy Island, which is home to a 7th Century monastic settlement.
