Following his visit in October 1991, Christy O'Connor wrote: "They can be very proud of their new course in Athenry. It is surprisingly dry for an inland course and the greens in particular were magnificent.

They may never stage the Ryder Cup in Athenry but, if you are in the area, do yourself a favour and play this eighteen-hole course that adds to the fine venues west of the Shannon." Excellent clubhouse facilities include bar and restaurant and views of the 'Fields of Athenry'.
