Welcome

An Caladh Gearr is located just outside the village of Spiddal in County Galway. This thatched cottage offers splendid views over Galway Bay and manages to provide its guests a real taste of Ireland and a genuine 'céad míle fáilte'.

Directions

Take R336 (Coast Road) to Spiddal. Drive straight through the Village. Continue for 3 miles, on the main road. Then you will pass a SuperValu shop on the sea side of the road. We are 500 metres past this on the other side of the road.

Description

There's plenty of private car parking and there's also a garden for guest use.
Popular activities in the local area include angling (you can get all the information you need at the Spiddal Angling School) and horse riding at Rusheen Riding Stables. For a round of golf, Barna Golf Course is only about 12km away or you could travel the 15 or so kilometres to Salthill. There's also a lovely sandy beach located nearby while the village itself is an excellent venue for a night out with some really nice pubs and restaurants.

There are three bedrooms, all of which are en suite. There's a double room, a twin room and a family room, and they all come with a hairdryer and a tea & coffee making facilities. The house is fully central heated and there is also a laundry service.

The hospitality was great. We really enjoyed our conversations sitting around the peat fire with Michael and Maire. The rooms were clean, and the breakfasts were exceptional.

In the advert it promised Fantastic views over Galway bay. This is a misleading claim and in fact any view was hidden by walls or hedges. Even the bedroom that our friends occupied only tantalised you with the glimpse of any sea. However the friendliness of our hosts soon got rid of that initial disappointment. The breakfast was fantastic and very generous.
