Lough Navar Forest Drive
A 7 mile long tarmaced road through hundreds of hectares of conifer forest. Major viewpoint over Lower Lough Erne. Numerous vista parks, view points and picnic sites have been constructed where the motorist can drive in and enjoy the scenery. One particular vista park overlooking Lower Lough Erne is perched right on a cliff edge and must afford the most spectacular view in Fermanagh. It is from this car park that the northern end of the Fermanagh Lakeland Route begins. This is a twenty three mile section of the Ulster Way and was the first to be opened. There are also way marked trails for the casual walker. A short distance from the Drive entrance, toilets have been provided. The Wildlife of the forest is fairly varied. A small herd of Red Deer and a herd of Wild Goats roam the area. Foxes, Badgers, Hares and Red Squirrels are fairly plentiful. One may occasionally catch a glimpse of a Peregrine Falcon or Hen Harrier. Meadow Pipits, Curlew, and Stonechats are common, as are Woodcock.

Description
Small flocks of Greenland Whitefront Geese sometimes visit the loughs in winter. For the angler there are three loughs-Meenameen, Glencreawan and Achork, all with easy access and stocked with brown trout. Valid permits and licences are required. The entire area is a man made coniferous forest which has been planted for prime purpose of producing timber. The first planting was in 1946 and has continued ever since.
Location
Lough Navar Forest Drive Four miles north west of Derrygonnelly village on the Glenasheevar Road.
