This is an old bar, full of character with distinctive high windows and oak spirit barrels behind the counter, once used for dispensing whiskey and an open fire.
The Central was popular with Canadian Airforce men stationed nearby during World War Two and is still visited by tourists from all over the globe. But mainly the Central Bar is a home from home for the many time-worn locals who add to the bar's character. This is one of Ireland's hidden gems.
