Location: The carpark is on the Strand road, north of Sandymount tower. Bus 3 from city centre.

Distance: 3km/2 miles.

Starting point: A flight of steps at the northern end of the carpark down to the strand.

Starting point: Begin at the carpark and walk southwards along the strand.

Route: The beach is covered by the high tide to the north of Robswalls Castle. Here, the rocks have traces of creatures which slightly resemble cockle shells. After the ridges of rocks there is a small beach and another bed of limestone....

The Royal Canal Way will eventually link Dublin with the River Shannon at Clondra in Co Longford along the towpath of the Royal Canal. The Royal canal was closed in 1960, and the towpath and the channel both became overgrown.
