sandymount strand

Sandymount Strand, Dublin.

Location: The carpark is on the Strand road, north of Sandymount tower. Bus 3 from city centre.

Distance: 3km/2 miles.

Starting point: A flight of steps at the northern end of the carpark down to the strand.

Route: From the steps you walk in a straight line towards the chimneys of Poolbeg station. There is a runnel which begins at a freshwater stream near Sandymount tower. Follow the runnel to the edge of the tide. Then turn left towards the embankment. Here you can leave the beach and go along the embankment at the edge of reclaimed land. The route back is along the Strand road to the carpark.
