Location: Bus 47 to Ballyboden brings you within 4km of the Hellfire carpark. Follow signposts from Rathfarnham to Glencree.

Distance: 2.5km/1.5miles.

Starting point: The carpark approximately 200 metres from Kilakee House.

Route: Inside the carpark there is a narrow path leading up a hill and into a dark forest. After the second bend on the path, there is a group of twenty-one large granite boulders. Up the hill from these, there is a clearing and then a crossroads where the footpath meets the forest road. The forest road goes southwards at the next bend away from the Hellfire. Continue on this road, until you see a shallow pond on the right, and a track beyond it leading to the Hellfire. The path to the carpark goes straight down the hill.
