Finnstown Fairways lies one mile south of the N4 at Lucan, near Dublin, with splendid views of the Dublin and Wicklow Mountains. While the Golf Course is newly laid out, finnstown, like all great houses, has a long history.

The ornamental grounds were originally laid out during the eighteenth century over the extensive lawn fields of Finnstown House which replaced an earlier house which in turn replaced a Norman Castle, the stone keep of which still remains.

The nine-hole course is parkland with many fine holes. Most of the holes are interesting, with the 9th being a favourite, calling for a well struck iron to a small sloping green perched alongside a grove of trees on the most southern point of the course.
