Without doubt the jewel in our crown is the Royal Co. Down, one of the world's best courses. Indeed, it is virtually impossible to say anything new about these famous links. Its virtues have been extolled in every golf playing country in the world. Not least among the aesthetic glories of Newcastle is the remoteness, the feeling enjoyed by golfers that they are the only people on earth.

It is common for golfers never to find equivalent challenge after playing this course. Many of the world's greatest players, from Harry Vardon to Tom Watson have paid tribute to the quality of Royal Co. Down and the challenge it presents. Every golfer should pay these magnificent links at least once.

Description

A beautiful course, set against the background of the Mountains of Mourne and moulded into the existing terrain with the minimum of adjustment. The course has five the shots which are blind and for a number of approach shots the greens are partially obscured.

The course is kept in excellent condition and the greens are fast and difficult to read. An exceptional test of golfing skill. A second course of par 65 is also available.
