The Portaferry Hotel is a charming waterside village inn, overlooking Strangford Lough, a renowned bird sanctuary and designated wildlife area. The terrace in which the hotel is located dates back to the 18th century. John and Marie Herlihy have sensitively renovated and extended the property to its current three star rating.

All 14 superbly appointed en-suite bedrooms, many with idyllic waterside views, are individually styled and traditionally furnished. Our award-winning Restaurant uses the best of local produce, including prime Ulster beef, Mourne lamb and game from neighbouring estates. However, the speciality for which the Portaferry has gained an international reputation is its seafood , landed daily at the fishing villages of Portavogie and Ardglass.

Local places of interest include the National Trust properties at Castleward and Mount Stewart, Castle Espie, The Northern Ireland Aquarium, St. Patrick's Vale, the Mourne Mountains and world renowned Royal County Down Golf Course. <
