Description
Visiting Grey Abbey is an excursion into a world of tranquility. Surrounded by an 18th-century parkland at one end of Greyabbey village, the 12th-century church and cloister of the Cistercian monastery looks impressive. The monks were self-sufficient, farming their estate and the medicines from their garden would have been used for animals as well as people.

Location
Grey Abbey is situated on the edge of Greyabbey village on the shores of Strangford Lough, a short and pleasant drive from Belfast or from Downpatrick using the car ferry which runs daily across the narrows between the picturesque fishing villages of Strangford and Portaferry.
