We arrived late on the Saturday and were greeted with a friendly smile and made very welcome. Unfortunately, we had to leave the next morning but we would have liked to stayed there longer.
The night I stayed was a very quiet night so it's probably hard to judge. THe location is gorgeous, just what I needed - private, refined & tasteful without making you uncomfortable. The idea of high tea is lovely but the evening dinner menu should be different to it, it should be a real treat & to achieve that the menu needs to be a lot more adventurous.
Quiet and beautiful location, particularly if in rooms with view of the mountains. Very friendly staff. Near enough to Newcastle to walk (20 mins).
The grounds and the old style decor and ambience. The bedroom is a little dated but bathroom good and the view from the room was georgeous. We took photos from the room and walked in the grounds (a secret well kept) of mature planting and forest.
View is astounding. Food ok. Hotel is quaint but in a good way. One of my party had to drop out at the last minute ad although I had no problem paying for his room, I felt they could have deducted the breakfast
We found the staff very helpful and friendly. The meals we had were first class and very warm, which was nice.
