County Donegal is on the North West coast of Ireland. The local Donegal airport is at Carrickfinn, half an hours drive from Woodhill House, with regular flights from Dublin & Glasgow. Car hire is also available at all of these airports.
Route from Dublin - Approx. 4 hours N3 to Cavan and onwards to Ballyshannon, N15 from Ballyshannon to Donegal town and take the N56 to Ardara.
Route from Belfast - Approx. 2.5 hours Take the A6 to Derry and then the A5 to Strabane. Next take the N15 to Donegal town and the N56 to Ardara
Route from Shannon - Approx. 5 hours Take the N18 to Galway. Then take the N17 to Sligo. From Sligo take the N15 to Donegal town. From Donegal town take the N56 to Ardara
Route from Cork - Approx. 7.5 hours Take the N20 to Limerick and from Limerick take the N18 to Galway. The route from Galway is the same as laid out above from Shannon.
In the main house, the 2 front rooms on the first floor, these rooms are large double aspect en-suite rooms with a shower and tub. Both rooms have one double bed. The side rooms on the first floor have single aspect en-suite with shower and have both a double bed and a single bed.
In the Coach House on the ground floor there is a large double aspect room, en-suite with shower. The room has both a double bed and a single bed. And in the first floor are more rooms with large triple aspect. And en-suite facilities with shower. In the Garden Rooms on the ground floor these rooms are ensuite with bath, shower and outside patio area onto the old walled garden. One of these room has wheel chair access VAS category 3. The first floor Garden Rooms are en-suite with balconies overlooking the old walled garden & Glengesh Pass, there is a double bed & single bed in each room.
Woodhill House is well known for its high quality and reasonably priced restaurant which is open to both guest and the general public.
The menu is French based using fresh Irish produce, especially seafood from nearby Killybegs, Ireland's principal fishing port. The relaxing Bar at Woodhill House also offers an extensive choice of wines from all over the world.
Fishing & Pony Trekking The Owenea River, which flows close to the town of Ardara, provides excellent salmon and trout fishing and is regarded as one of the best in the country. The West Coast of Ireland is warmed by the ‘North Atlantic Drift’ and the nearby fishing port of Killybegs offers an abundance of sea angling opportunities for fishing enthusiasts. Pony trekking along the golden sandy beaches of Ardara is also very popular and can be arranged by Woodhill House.
Golf & Pitch and Putt The breathtaking links golf courses at Murvagh, Donegal town and Portnoo/Narin are all within a short drive. There also a pitch and putt course close by which is great fun for children and adults.
Breathtaking Blue Flag Beaches & Cycle Hire Boating and surfing can also be enjoyed nearby with some of the best Blue Flag beaches within easy reach. Cycle hire is also available.
