This is a lough of some 40 acres, 2 miles form Belleek on the A47 Pettigo road. It is stocked annually with brown and rainbow trout and being a limestone lough has a good stock of natural trout too. The season runs from 1 March to 30 September and there is a 4 trout bag limit and a 10 inch size limit. Only orthodox fly fishing is allowed. Boats may be hired from Mr John McGauran, Bally-megaghran, Leggs Post Office, or from the Carlton Hotel, Belleek. The avergae size of the trout here is over 1lb and your are in with a good chance of getting a fish up to 5lb. In fact, this must rate among the best half dozen loughs in the country. It has good hatches of duckfly, olives, mayfly, buzzer and sedges and a fall of daddies from August. All the usual flies associated with these work well and a few to keep in mind are Blae and Black, Hare's Ear, Sooty Olive, Golden Olive, March Brown, Connemara Black, Mayfly, Spent Gnat, Small Sedge patterns and a Daddy. Fishing is mainly from the north and south shores and fishing stands are provided where the bankside vegetation makes fishing difficult.
There is a car park at the north side. Permission required.
