Access to these three loughs is either off the small mountain road to the north and in by the west side of Lough Boyle or by taking another small road from the west and coming in past Lough Keeran. Either way, it is difficult going and will take well over an hour. Golagh has an nice stock of good trout averaging three quarter pound, with some to nearly 3 pounds. The banks are difficult to fish in places, but at some points it is possible to wade. One of the best areas is the long, sometimes very good-but at times you will be lucky if you get one or two. Small lough flies work well and it is worth trying a Buzzer pupa pattern if you notice duckfly around. Lough Barderg is short distance to the east. The fish here are somewhat bigger, but are difficult to rise. Croaghadalough is a short walk to the south of Lough Golagh. It holds good quality trout with many in the 1pound class. Again they are slow to take, but it is worth a try and you will fish it all the way around in an hour. Permission:Not usually required.
