Glen Lough
Glen Lough
Letterkenny, Donegal
There are three other fishery owner on the Lough, but day tickets are only let on the Letterkenny Association water. Three boats are available for hire and outboards are allowed but not supplied so anglers are advised to bring their own. This used to be one of the great spring salmon loughs, but it never really recovered from the effects of UDN. Occasional salmon are now taken in April and May and a 28lb fish was taken in 1985. The brown trout are small but the lough produces a few from 3-4lb ev...
Lough Beagh
Lough Beagh
Letterkenny, Donegal
Lough Beach is a large lough of volcanic origin, nearly 4 miles long by about a half mile wide. It can be approached from Letterkenny by taking the N56 and turning left on the L77 Gweedore road, or by taking the L82 road from Gweedore. As well as a good stock of brown trout the lough holds occasional salmon, and the sea trout arrive in August. The brown trout fishing can vary greatly. Lough Nacally
Lough Nacally
Letterkenny, Donegal
This small lough lies to the north of Gartan Lough and there is good access to it from the south via secondary roads, one of which runs by the shore on the west side. The average size of the trout is a half lb. It holds an excellent stock and ona summer evening trout can be seen rising all over the lough. There is no shore fishing due to the reeds and it is too deep for wading. It is well worth fishing from a boat but keep a lookout for submerged tree stumps. Permission....
Lough Deele

Letterkenny, Donegal
Lough Deele is the source of the Deele River which flows east towards Raphoe. It lies deep in the mountains 6 miles south west of Letterkenny and is best approached via a small road from the east. This is a difficult walk through forest and across bog and will take at least one and a half hours to complete. The effort of getting there and back - is generally well rewarded- the trout average nearly three quarters pounds and some excellent catches have been reported. An average catch should produc...
Lough Fern
Lough Fern
Letterkenny, Donegal
The Letterkenny and District Anglers' Association exercises rights on that part of the lough to which it has title and the rest of the lough is free fishing. This was one of the great spring salmon loughs until its stocks were hit by UDN in the 1960s, a disaster from which it never recovered. It is now fished for its brown trout and can give superb sport. The trout average a half lb and fish up to 1lb are encountered fairly frequently and you may even get on over 2lb. It is a shallow lough, nerl...

The lough is only one field away from the road and access is opposite the little pond on the roadside. The trout average about three quarters lbs and in the past the lough is known to have produced trout of over 4lb. The north and west sides are easily fished while the east side is unfishable. There is another little lough a few h...
