Description
Description
The 'John Molloy' story started almost one hundred years ago in the misty highlands of Donegal, a region in the north west of Ireland, noted for its tradition in sheep farming and fishing. It is appropriate therefore that the 'John Molloy' story is rooted in the environment in which it developed. The 'John Molloy' business has developed over time from the early days of pioneering local craftsmanship in hand-woven Donegal Tweeds and handknit Aran Sweaters and accessories. However, 'John Molloy' success in the inter. national market place is still essentially based on the expertise and craftsmanship, which the Molloy family set out to cultivate many years ago. Today, 'John Molloy' produces a complete range of men’s and ladies knitwear embracing both the traditional Irish Aran fishermen’s sweaters and a contemporary fashion range. The 'John Molloy' label also covers a diverse range in fashion accessories, including mufflers, hats caps, capes, shirts, ties, and mitts. And ever true to its tradition, 'John Molloy' produces a range of Donegal Tweed coats, jackets, waistcoats, caps and other accessories. It is also noted for fine Donegal Tweed fabrics, which were an integral part of the Molloy origins The John Molloy label today embraces a vital combination of past and present (Fashion wear is created variously by hand: on hand flats and with fully-fashioned computerized equipment. And it works with a diverse selection of materials including 100% Pure New Wool, Wool/Alpaca, Linen, Linen/Cotton, Cotton and tweeds. John Molloy operates from a modern factory situated in the same spot in which I business had its humble beginnings. It employs a direct work force of almost o hundred and engages many more Cottage hand knitters from the locality, and I entire operation is decorated by a magnificent factory shop/showroom which parades the complete range of John Molloy knitwear and tweeds. Cottage hand knitters, 2- and 4 gauge hand flats, 5 gauge electronic machinery, a vibrant combination of traditional and contemporary, and the 'John Molloy ' tradition continues through its existing President, Michael Molloy, son of the man who started it all ...
