Angling:

The Lower Bann has long been one of the best kept angling secrets in Europe. There are few rivers anywhere that can compare with the Lower Bann for both Coarse and Game angling. (Coarse angling is permitted all year).

The Lodge is located in a central point on the Lower Bann and all the best stretches are within easy reach producing Coarse catches well over 100lbs and Trout and Salmon of the highest quality.

Portneal Lodge is specially equipped with drying facilities and bait storage fridges (bait and ground bait can be ordered). New fishing stands have been built a short distance from the Lodge including some designed for disabled use.

Rod licences and permits are available at the Lodge.

Portneal Lodge is situated next to the Bann Bridge, less than one mile from the centre of Kilrea on the B64 to Ballymena.

The area around Kilrea has many natural and archeological treasures, the most notable being the Giant's Causeway. Long miles of white sandy beaches, ancient castles and the world's oldest licensed distillery are among the many varied attractions the area has to offer.
