Derry
Derry's walled city contains within its Georgian streets many very fine buildings including St Columb's Cathedral (1633). Just outside the old walls of the city is the Guild Hall, seat of local government, constructed in neo-Gothic style.
The walls themselves date back to the early 17th century and have withstood several sieges including the most famous siege which lasted 105 days in 1689.
Derry's walls have never been breached hence the reason for the title "The Maiden City".
