At the Grande Parade entrance, have a look at one of the oldest stalls in the market, selling nothing but two traditional Cork delicacies, tripe and drisheen. Cork traditionalists with very strong Cork accents sell these – you’ll be luck if you can understand their Cork lingo!

There are also some excellent small cafes and coffee bars and one larger café, the Farm Gate, if you get hungry during your visit. You'll find enough to interest you just wandering about, but there are a few highlights worth seeking out. It's almost impossible to miss O'Connell's fresh fish stall, the largest in the market. Also, look out for Mr Bell’s exotic food stalls to find some rare treats

The poster on the wall of the stairs leading up to the Farm Gate Café is a comprehensive guide to everything that's going on in Cork from traditional music to theatre, dance, classes, comedy and sport - it’s the perfect tourist guide!
