Kicki's is well named, for this is a narrow little cabin of rooms and a perfect second home for the thrillingly challenging cooking of the staff.

The food here is simple but those unassuaged tastes are as memorable as ever. Kale soup with a little dollop of whipped cream, perhaps some toothsome mussels in a simple overcoat of puff pastry, the shellfish perfectly partnered by a light curry suace.

Duck is panfried and accompanied by a punchy wild mushroom sauce, devilled chicken is spicy and real, lemon sole duxelle has a fine white wine sauce. Lovely adroit cooking devoted to good flavours and if they have the honey parfait on the menu, don't miss it.
