Gougane Barra is one of the top beauty spots in County Cork. Take a visit here and explore its wondeful national park (the first in Ireland!) its lakes and its wild and beautiful scenery.

A small island on the lake was where St. Finbarr (patron St. of Cork) set up his first monastery and so Gougane Barra became a place of pilgrimage.

Gougane Barra is famous for outdoor activities such as cycling, walking and fishing.

Gougane Barra is a magical place and no visit here would be complete without a visit to the little chapel called St. Finbarr's Oratory. It's said to be the smallest church in Ireland!

Gougane Barra is about 71km from Cork city. The drive will take approx an hour. Take the N22 to Killarney and before you come to Macroom take a turn off on the left for Gougane Barra (R584). After about 5km take a right onto the L4643 and continue on this road.
