Beamish & Crawford Brewery

Founded in 1792 by William Beamish, the Beamish & Crawford Brewery is well worth a visit. It's main product is of course Beamish. The Brewery holds tours twice a week. It's only for people over 18 as you get to sample some of the produce afterwards.

Tours must be pre-booked by telephoning the brewery....

Located at Lady's Well, it is Irelands most modern brewery, and had been producing stout for home consumption and export since 1856. The building was originally a hospital. The name Lady's Well refers to a well on the hill opposite the brewery which is supposed to have miraculous properties.
In 1993 the bewery was taken over by Heineken International as the berwery was experiencing financial difficulities. The was then changed to Murphy Brewery Ireland Ltd. After this take over by Heineke...
