It is a simple little village restaurant, just a single room, a fact which often surprises those who come here for the first time, for the room may be small but the farm of Annie's is big.

The style of the food cooked complements this simple space - good smoked salmon, fine big scallops in a cream and white wine sauce, roasted duck, a hearty slice of beef, lots of good vegetables, good gooey desserts - everything is rich with flavour and savour. It is food which is desperately easy to enjoy, cooked and served with a generous heart.

But Annie's is about an awful lot more than the food. There is a splendid ritual to the business of dinner here, a unique theatre of activitiy beginning with a drink or two in Levis's pub across the street, where you scan the menus and struggle to make up your mind, before Annie comes to firstly take the order, and secondly to fetch you, and then there is the joy of the charming little room, the splendid service, the pop of wine corks, the mighty crack… It's all too wonderful for words.<
Description

Annie also runs the café in the bookshop further up the street, with lunchtime sandwiches and snacks.
