Mrs Elizabeth Crotty was born in west Clare in 1885. She first began to play the concertina around the turn of the century. By the 1950's she became a pioneer of the Fleadh Cheoil movement.
Today, her celebrated name continues to stand guard over the Market Square in Kilrush, while her concertina music continues to inspire hundreds of enthusiasts throughout the 'Irish Music World'. This traditional music festival offers lectures, concertina and set dancing classes, open air ceilis and singing workshops.
