Coolreagh Gate Lodge
Coolreagh Gate Lodge is being sympathetically restored, upgraded and extended by adding two annex buildings in the same Georgian style as the existing house. It is proposed to retain much of the existing features to the interior and to upgrade the windows and exterior detail.
The original Coolreagh House was constructed in 1838 by Ralph Westropp with the materials coming from the ruins of Coolreaghmor Castle. This building will act as the main reception area with a library, games rooms and a virtual reality golf room which will be available to all guests.
This development is available for nightly (min 3 nights), mid week and weekly holiday rentals.
Local Activities
East Clare Golf Club
The course is set in 150 acres of unspoilt, rolling, quiet countryside in the West of Ireland with majestic views of East Clare. Our course is very popular with visitors from both overseas and within Ireland. East Clare Golf Club operates a "pay as you play" policy for visitors ensuring visitors can be accommodated at all times.
Fishing
The local area of County Clare is dominated by water. The area is dotted with lakes and cress-crossed with rivers-created by gin-clear babbling streams as they descend beautifully scenic mountainsides on their meandering journeys through rolling countryside and valleys to meet the mighty Atlantic Ocean along a coastline of sandy beaches, rocky ledges, shingle and cliff-face.
This is the scenario for great fishing, a watery kingdom offering the full spectrum of angling.
Equestrian
Exploring beautiful countryside by horse is a stimulating experience and Clare offers a variety of options enabling you to wind down and enjoy life at a leisurely pace. The geography of the area and its amazing diversity of landscapes are ideally suited to horse riding throughout the entire year. Mountain trails, gently sloping hillsides, forest paths, deserted beaches, all compete in popularity.
Walking
County Clare has a highly organised network of walking routes that take you from one end of the county to the other through vastly differing landscapes. There are three charted signposted routes - the Burren Way, the Mid Clare Way and the East Clare Way, which passes right past the doors of Dangan Lodge.
Bunratty Castle & Folk Park
Bunratty Castle & Folk Park is listed within the top 10 visitor attractions in Ireland. A visit to the castle, built in 1425 and plundered on many occasions, is the most complete and authentic medieval fortress in Ireland while the folk park is a great afternoon for the family.
The castle was restored in 1954 to its former medieval splendour. You can marvel at the finest collection of medieval 15th and 16th century furniture in the country.
The castle is entered via a drawbridge to the main guard. The main block has three floors, each consisting of a great room or hall. The four towers have six stories each.
