Ennis is a picturesque town with quiet a few different shops, excellent restaurants and lively traditional Irish pubs, all within walking distance of Drom na Con. Within 3 minutes to your left is a well stocked family owned local shop and bakery, very popular for their quality breads.
Places to visit within walking distance include Clare Museum, O’Connell Square, Ennis town, Glor music centre, indoor swimming pool, ten pin bowling, excellent shops, restaurants and fast food outlets.
There are several interesting guided walks of the town available most days starting from the Tourist Office.
Within 15 minutes – One can enjoy the beautiful landscape on the way to the renowned Dysert O’Dea Castle and Archaeology Centre, the Round Tower and High Cross.
Continue on to visit the work famous Burren and on your way drop into the Corofin and visit the Clare Heritage Centre and Museum. The Genealogical Centre may enable you to trace your ancestry. The picturesque area around Corofin and Lake Inchiquin has been referred to as the ‘Killarney of Clare’.
Within 40 minutes – Lahinch Beach, enjoy the exhilarating sport of surfing, Sea World, Aquarium, Leisure Centre, Swimming Pool, Sauna, Gym, Play Zone, Golf Course and Kilfenora Burren Interpretative Centre.
Over 30 minutes – The Cliffs of Moher, Ailwee Cave, Pollnabrone Dolmen and the spectacular scenery of North Clare. Cragganowen, an interpretation of pre-historic Ireland and a recreation of Celtic Ireland, Bunratty Castle, Knappogue Castle, Quin Abbey and the Hunt Museum. Horse riding trips also available. Day trips of the Aran Island and Dublin can be arranged.
