Ballinalacken Castle Hotel is a charming 4 star hotel located close to the picturesque town of Doolin in County Clare. The hotel stands on the grounds of the ancient ruins of the 15th Century Ballinalacken Castle - if you ask the owner Denis O Callaghan nicely you might get the chance to climb the castle and see awe-inspiring views of the area from the top.
This is a peaceful location brimming with history, culture and tradition. Take a walk around the grounds and appreciate the wonderful vistas of the Cliffs of Moher, the Atlantic Ocean, the Aran Islands and the rugged and windswept hills of Connemara.
It was bought by Daniel O’Callaghan in 1938 from Lord O’Brien and re-opened its doors as a hotel to the public in 1939. The hotel has remained in the O’Callaghan family since and they take great pride in taking care of the day-to-day running of the property.
Ballinalacken Castle is perfect for treating yourself to something a little more special. Take that important someone in your life here for a romantic break. Hide away from the hustle and bustle of modern living with a restful retreat to this peaceful country oasis in County Clare.

Ballinalacken Castle is a countryside setting yet everything you need is within easy access. Hop on the ferry at Doolin Village and experience a simpler and more laid back lifestyle on the Aran Islands. Inis Mór is the largest of the three islands where you can find a lot of unique and quirky craft items to bring home with you.
You don’t have to go to the Aran Island for crafts as Doolin Village is a treasure trove of galleries and traditional workmanship. Enjoy a round of golf at any one of the championship golf courses in the county. The pubs and restaurants scattered throughout the village are great hangouts for lively entertainment, local banter and great laughs. There are a number of great scenic drives around the area. Step into your car and take a spectacular drive to the Cliffs of Moher or The Burren – not to be missed!
County Clare offers an enticing combination of history, culture, and ‘ceol agus craic’. Come and find out for yourself – you won’t be disappointed!
