Avarest is located at the Hurlers Cross, a residential area just at the edge of Shannon Town. To get there from Shannon Airport take the N19 to the R471 through Shannon and take the R471 at the roundabout. The Hurlers Cross is the first left at about 100 yards. Bunratty Castle Bunratty Castle in located just 3 miles from Avarest. The castle is home to the renowned medieval banquets, which are famous for fantastic food and nightly entertainment. Within the grounds of the castle you can step back in time and explore the folk park and the thatched cottages. Recent additions to the Folk Park include 2 Irish Wolfhounds and a miniature pony.
Durty Nellies is beside Bunratty Castle and a well established pub and restaurant. The Creamery, Blarney Woolen Mills and Gallaghers Seafood Restaurant are all within walking distance of Bunratty Castle & Folk Park. Lough Derg and River Shannon Lough Derg is the biggest lake on the river Shannon with fantastic views along the East Clare Way.
