Café le Monde is an Irish owned group of restaurants based in Carlow Shopping Centre and Harbour Place Shopping Centre Mullingar, County Westmeath. From the traditional all day Irish breakfast, our lunch specials, homemade confectionary, paninis, bagels and wraps to our range of speciality coffees and teas – unlike most shopping centre restaurants of today, we make everything fresh inhouse. History Our Carlow restaurant is built in the Govenors building of the old Carlow Gaol. Carlow Gaol holds the distinction of having the hanging of the last woman hung in Ireland, the alleged murderess Lucy Slye. It is said that she still haunts the building – local paranormal group LeinsterParanormal have documented their investigations at the Cafe.
