Ladies day at the Galway Races

Ladies Day is usually held on the Thursday of the Summer Meeting of the Galway Races. It has become one of the most stylish and fashionable events of the social calendar in Ireland.

The Galway Races are taking place from July 28th to August 23rd this summer and the highlight of the week is sure to be Ladies Day, which will take place on Thursday 31st July.

Ladies Day draws huge numbers from all corners of Ireland who turn up in the finest couture, complete with matching accessories, bags, stilettos and the all important head gear.

Dedicated followers of fashion will vye for the 'Best Dressed' title but all it really takes is imagination, attention to detail, co-ordination and a bit of luck!

To be in with a chance to win, all you have to do is turn up in your finery – there's no formal entry procedure as judges just mingle in the crowd to select the chosen finalist. The finalist are then gathered in the Anthony Ryan Marquee where well known judges on the Irish fashion scene will choose the winning outfit around 4pm. As well as getting a lot of media publicity, the winner will also receive quite a generous prize (€3000 in 2007!).
