Surveys carried out by researchers in UCC and UCD show that obesity and especially child obesity in on the rise.

Irish hotels and guesthouses are the perfect target with this new healthy eating initiative as they serve around 5 million meals to children each year!

Menus will be provided to chefs all over Ireland, which are carefully put together by a dietician. Two main aims are to provide a substitute for fizzy drinks and to reduce salt content in food.

This new proposal will begin in May this year so if you want to pick hotels and guesthouses that will provide healthier, family friendly menus, then look for the symbol, as those taking part will display one.
