The Changing of the Guard

Head along to the magnificent Buckingham Palace to witness one of London's most famous attractions – The Changing of the Guard. It takes place outside Buckingham Palace each morning at 11.30am and lasts for half an hour. What you essentially see here is a military march of soldiers dressed in their attire of red tunics and bearskin hates, with one soldier handing over his role of protection to another soldier. The changeover ceremony is conducted to music.

The Ceremony of the Keys

This tradition has been taking place at the Tower of London for over 700 years! This ceremony takes place at 9.53pm each evening. You will see the Chief Yeoman Warder and the Military Escort lock the main gates of the Tower and then deliver the keys to the Resident Governor of the Tower. This nightly event is free to visitors but you must sign up for your tickets in advance.

Trafalgar Square

Trafalgar Square is London's most famous public square and it can be found in the heart of the city centre. It has up to 15 million visitors a year! The busy public square is home to lots of attractions such as Nelson's Column, which is guarded by four lions at its base. There are also a number of fountains in the square. The National Gallery is located on the north side of the square and St.Mairtin-In-The-Fields Church is located in the north east corner of the square.  

The Museum of London

Whether you're a history buff or you just love museums, you're sure to enjoy the Museum of London. It's located in the Barbican Estate just a few minutes walk from St.Paul's Cathedral. The museum has a series of galleries, which display models, pictures, diagrams and artefacts from prehistoric times to the present day. It's definitely worth a visit to learn all about London's past. Admission is free and you can also avail of a free public tour each day.

St. James's Park

St.James's Park is the oldest royal park in London and is located next to Buckingham Palace. It covers 58 aces and features duck filled lakes and beautifully manicured gardens. This is the ideal spot to unwind with a picnic while taking in the amazing views of Buckingham Palace. Each June, the park comes alive for the Queen's Birthday Parade.
