In the past week, Ireland had battled some of the worst floods to be seen in the country in decades. So extensive is the devastation caused by the flooding, it has been described as a "one in 800 years event". Rivers burst their banks, towns became flooded and thousands had to evacuate their homes. The worst hit areas were the south and west, even the country's 2nd largest city could not escape the floods.

Calling all golfing fanatics! Killarney is the place to be next year with the prestigious Irish Open taking place on the August bank holiday weekend (July 29th – August 1st). This is the third time the competition will be hosted in Killarney and it will once again return to the magnificent championship Killeen Course where the national park, lakes of Killarney and McGillycuddy Reeks (Ireland's highest mountain range!) form the perfect backdrop.
Dublin-Belfast Rail Line Back In Action

The main Dublin-Belfast rail line is probably one of the busiest commuter routes in the country. It's one of the best means of travel between these two major cross border cities.
However, on August 21st this major international rail route was severely disrupted when part of the Malahide viaduct collapsed and put a halt to all services. Following three months of intensive repairs on the viaduct, there's good news for commuters today, with the reopening of this all important rail route between north and south.
