It was in the early 70s Tommy Magee and Barney Duffin set about bringing together, under the umbrella of Loughbeg CCE, those who had a keen interest in the traditional music, song and dance of Ireland. Very little is known about the early years as records can't be found but at that time the Branch held various music classes in a variety of instruments and boasts an All-Ireland U12 Miscellaneous title holder - Barry Magee in 1977....

The first bleach green in Ulster was established before 1626 at Lambeg a mile downstream, a hamlet with a pretty suspension bridge and church. The hamlet have its name to the big drums which came to Ireland from Holland with the army of William the 3rd. 'Lambegs' are seen and heard in Orange Lodge parades....
