We are delighted to announce the results of the first Gulliver Ireland Awards.
Accommodation providers using Gulliver Ireland to market their properties were considered for the awards. The winners were chosen based on a number of criteria, particularly for effective online sales management, a skill becoming ever more vital to tourism enterprises of all sizes.
Speaking today at the announcement of the winners, Dr. Stewart Stephens, Managing Director of Gulliver Ireland said, "Over the last few years, great developments have been made in the domestic tourism sector in the area of Internet sales & marketing. Properties of all sizes are embracing technology and taking advantage of the many online tools and sales channels available.
"This awards scheme was set up to recognise the efforts of the many accommodation providers who have accepted the challenge of marketing themselves in this new and ever-changing online environment. We also hope to show others in the tourism industry what is possible if they effectively harness the online marketing tools, such as Gulliver Ireland, now available to attract more visitors to their properties.
Dr. Stephens continued, "Barbara Robinson of The Old Coach House in Wicklow won the overall award. Barbara's Bed & Breakfast is a great example of what can be achieved when a good product is well marketed online. The results she has achieved through Gulliver Ireland, by consistent availability management, simply reflect her overall focus in this area.
The awards were broken down into eight geographic regions with four category awards in each region. The winners are as follows:

Online bookings through GoIreland.com and the many associated and affiliated websites have risen by 40% this year. 265,000 bed nights have been booked online since January alone.
