The opening of their Balti House downstairs in the Shalimar offers another echo of the Pakistani Punjab cusine in which the restaurant specialises.

Balti, hailing from Balistan in northern Pakistan, allows the restaurant to offer the simple Balti dishes - chicken, seafood, keema, vegetable kofta, cooked, served and eaten from a karahi - alongside the more formal food of the restaurant - tandoori specialities, a variety of Punjabi dishes, a range of biryanis....

Irish painting adorn the walls of this attractive up market restaurant. Pigeon salad tiede or pate maison are possible starters, to be followed by grilled lambs' kidneys in masala sauce with chocolate terrine to conclude. Difficult to find, but highly recommended. It is situated behind 'Keily's pub' off the Morehampton road.

Can seat up to 60 people and hold a special restaurant licence. Credit cards are accepted and vegetarians are catered for....

As you might expect, the City Centre is not in the city centre, but just beside the Liffey in a fast-developing neck of the woods. The sense of humour evident in its name is evident in the room, which is unpretentious and relaxed, and their mix of sandwiches, salads and bakes are fresh and satisfying....

This coffee shop, sanck bar with a piglet motif throughout, serves home-made cakes and pastries. Specialities are carrot cake and brown bread....

In addition to the Café with its cool leanness of design and the cool leanness of the smart set who have been coming here since the day it opened, there is also the shop - just across the street - and the bakery....
